Abstract :

The talk will focus first on recent research results in model-based feedback control that has excellent potential for networked control applications. Stability and performance will be discussed together with connections to the multi-rate and human interaction literature. Intermittent feedback control, a novel architecture that bridges the gap between sampled data and continuous feedback control will then be presented and connections with the switched systems literature will be made.

Biography :

Panos Antsaklis is the Brosey Professor of Electrical Engineering and Concurrent Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He is a graduate of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, and holds MS and PhD degrees from Brown University. He has contributed to linear feedback control, intelligent control, supervisory control of DES using Petri nets and hybrid systems, and more recently he is involved in Cyber-Physical Systems research, which deals with embedded computer systems that interact directly with the physical world. He is the President of the Mediterranean Control Association and serves as the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Max-Planck-Institute in Magdeburg, Germany. He has served as President of the IEEE Control Systems Society and as General chair of the CDC and as Program Chair of the CDC and ECC. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control.
