A custom-developed video-rate laser scanning confocal system with three excitation wavelengths (491nm/532nm/635nm; 50mW) and three PMT (Hamamatsu R10699) channels, generating high quality optical cross-sectional images for real-time in vivo biological studies. The microscope can be operated in both fluorescent and reflectance modes and is equipped with custom-developed software for 3D image reconstruction.
EvoDECO 10
EvoDECO 10 is more ergonomic and offers greater autonomy; Tornos has worked hard to simplify the maintenance and use of the machine. Particular mention must be made of the automatic cyclic lubrication, the automatic filtration and the pivoting control. The machine spindles now incorporate synchronous motors which enable lightning fast acceleration and deceleration, while minimising the consumption of electricity. The latest finite element method analysis techniques have been used to check the entire structure of the machine. Machining performance levels have therefore been improved; the machine is more rigid and offers greater stability when machining.

A FISBA phase-shifting interferometer with 1020x1024 pixel resolution and up to λ/20 accuracy. The interferometer is supported by a vertical gantry overlooking a multi-stage platform that provides 6 degrees of freedom (x, y, z, x-tilt, y-tilt, rotation) to precisely align the interferometric axis with that of the optical element under study. The setup comes with plano and spherical lens of 100 mm diameter. A self-developed sub-aperture stitching software provides the extended capability of measuring freeform optics as well as surface flat of diameter up to 300mm. The setup is a key component in the Magnetorheological Jet Polishing project that was supported by funding from the Innovation Technology Commission of the HKSAR.
